The Somerville Club Open Mic evenings are
held on Thursdays, so please join us at 23 Sommerville Road, Bishopston, BS7 9AD.
You may need to CLICK HERE for a map, as it's difficult to locate for first-timers. Performers and friends generally arrive at around 7-45pm to 8pm to chat and to help set-up, before the music starts at around 8-15pm, depending on numbers there at that time. If it's a busy night anyone arriving after 9pm isn't likely to get a spot, although they are welcome to stay and enjoy the evening. The numbers played by performers are either two or three, again depending on number of people turning up, so if it's quiet you may get two slots. To keep things working simply, people are only admitted as "Myspace Friends" to the Somerville Club Myspace page once they become regulars, so please don't apply to become a Myspace Friend if you've never played here before. The Open Mic night is free for everyone to attend, whether as a performer, or to just enjoy listening to the wide variety of music played. |

Hover your mouse-cursor over the faces on the above montage of current and past performers, and by clicking on some they will link to their personal websites where you can hear music-samples. (Montage by Mike Asdown). We have so much fun here that it's never a problem motivating ourselves to be there and do all the hard work of setting up and running the night. The regulars at the club are our real friends. The Somerville Club Open Mic Night was started on 8th July 2004. It has not missed a single week since then! We don't close for summer holidays, we would only close at Christmas if it fell on Christmas day. The Somerville Club Open Mic Night supports the Bristol Acoustic Roots Singer Songwriter festival - www.BARSSfest.com - A number of our regulars are featured at the festival, and we are involved with its organization. |
